Following the detention of Adıyaman Mayor Abdurrahman Tutdere, CHP administrators and citizens reacted to the decision. Speaking at the protest organized under the leadership of the CHP Adıyaman Provincial Directorate, party members described the process as unlawful. The rally, where slogans such as “Tutdere is not alone” were chanted, emphasized that the will of the people was dealt a blow.

CHP Adıyaman Provincial Chairman Engin Doğan stated in his speech that the will of the people was seized:

“This usurped will is the will of the people of Adıyaman. We won the elections with flying colors, we won all together. But what did they do? They usurped our will. From tobacco workers to civil servants, from laborers to our children, this will is the will of all of us. Our future is being mortgaged. We will never remain silent about this. We will resist until the end, we will seek our rights. What was done to our Mayor Abdurrahman Tutdere was done to the ancient, earthquake-stricken people of Adıyaman. However, we believe that rights, law and justice will be manifested as soon as possible and our mayor will return to us.”

CHP Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir, Deputy Chairman Ulaş Karasu, Malatya MP Veli Ağbaba, Adıyaman Bar Association President Bilal Doğan, Malatya and Adıyaman CHP provincial organizations, provincial and district mayors and many civil society organization representatives also took their place in the square and supported Mayor Tutdere.

CHP Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir emphasized that Tutdere was not just a person but the chosen will of the people, saying, “We object to your arresting the will of this people. If you are going to try him, try him without arrest. Because when you put Abdurrahman Tutdere in prison, you are not only putting him in prison, you are also putting this people in prison. You are putting a mortgage on your will.”

CHP Deputy Chairman Ulaş Karasu also criticized President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan with harsh words. Karasu recalled Tutdere's struggle for Adıyaman and said:

“100 days ago, you detain Tutdere because he did not renew his contract with someone you called a ‘criminal organization’. That person goes, slanders, and then plots against our president with lies. Those who do this are supposedly religious, supposedly moral people. But they have forgotten the words of our Prophet, ‘Ruling with justice for one day is better than worshipping for a thousand years’. What did Fatih Sultan Mehmet say? ‘If you buy the judge, justice dies. The day justice dies, the state dies too.’ Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, you do not listen to what we say, but at least pay attention to these historical words.”
